President
Bob is retired from a career in journalism.
He is active in numerous Durham organizations.

 Sue Mathias

Vice President
Sue is an educator with a focus on the Japanese Language.  She is active in the Toyama City Committee and has led one of the HS trips to Toyama.

Alejandro Pena

Secretary 
Alejandro works in the field on international fund raising.   His home country is Argentina.

Mark Goodwillie

Treasurer & Zhuzhou Chair
Mark has a background in producing documentary videos, with one being a project with Chinese producers.

Tom Harris

Director
Tom is retired from the legal profession, and has hosted Toyama college students in their visits to Durham.

Rich is retired from the US State Department, having served in numerous stations in the Middle East, Russia, and other posts.

Guillermo Solares is originally from Mexico.    His works in the IT field with international corporations.

Vivian is originally from China.  She is a CPA, and has worked with non-profits for their financial records for many years.

Brady Surles

Executive Director
Brady is a retired professor of History, with a focus on international studies.  He studied in England, and was a Fulbright Exchange Teacher in Norway. He has led numerous international trips with his college and with Sister Cities.

Tomas Rimer-Surles

Tomas is a freshman at Durham Tech Community College, and enjoys being involved with international students.

Ronda Pierce

Arusha Chair
Ronda has worked in Europe and has traveled extensively, including Tanzania.  She was the leader of a Rotary grant for a water project for Arusha.

Gwenn Bookman

Arusha Co-chair
Gwenn has served as director of Global Studies at her college.  She has traveled extensively.

Elsa is originally from Celaya.  She and her husband have an English to Spanish translation business.

Nancy Proia

Durham U.K. Chair
Nancy loves to travel internationally, and is active in the Neighborhood Exchange Project for the Durham, UK Committee.

Betty Tilley Seddon

Kavala Chair
Betty grew up in Kavala, and came to the USA for college.  She has maintained her ties with Kavala..

Randy Griffin

Kavala Co-chair
Randy was a tobacco buyer in Turkey and Greece.  He has taken numerous international trips.

Anne Berkley

Kostroma Co-chair
Anne is a retired Librarian, and in that role led the Kostroma Committee in securing Open World grants to bring young Russians to Durham.

Ann Evangelisto

Kostroma Chair
Ann is a retired teacher.
She has been with the Kostroma Committee for many years, with many trips to Russia.

Mitch Scurtu 

Sibiu Chair
Mitch is originally from Sibiu. He is a lover of classical music, which led him to become associated with the classical music festival in Sibiu

Melissa Perez

Tilaran Chair
Melissa is the director of the foreign language programs for Durham Public Schools.  She is proficient in Spanish, plus several other languages.

Chris Boyer

Toyama Chair
Chris is retired from the City of Durham.  She has been with the Toyama Committee from its early days, and has been a key leader in exchange programs with Toyama.

Lusia Li

Zhuzhou Co-chair
Lusia is originally from China with strong ties to Hunan Province, where Zhuzhou is located.  She currently works in IT at Duke.  She has developed ties with Zhuzhou schools. 

Dot Borden

Honorary Director
Dot is the founding president of Sister Cities of Durham, which has grown because of her vision and passion for world peace.
